💛 About JOY
John Orion Young is a fourth-generation artist, classically trained as a painter and sculptor, working at the intersection of contemporary art, virtual reality, and blockchain technology.
He is the creator of JOYWORLD — a living universe of hand-sculpted creatures, objects, and portals born in VR and brought to life on-chain. In 2018, he became the first artist to mint 3D NFTs, pioneering an entirely new medium for digital art.

🛠️Medium & Process
Each creation begins as intuition — not from a sketch or a plan, but from feeling. JOY puts on the headset and sculpts the unseen, shaping creatures out of thin air with two hands in virtual reality.
The studio is a heavily customized rig: VR goggles remixed with 3D-printed parts, reshaped interfaces, and a more human fit. The tools change often — Adobe Medium, Modeler, Stager, custom programs, sometimes AI — but the goal stays the same: make the process feel more like play.
"If I could make the whole JOYWORLD with a pencil and paper, I would."

💭Philosophy
JOY doesn't worship technology. JOY bends it. Molds it. Subverts it. The tools are only ever used to make the process feel more like play.
"I don't make the JOYs. They show up and say, 'Hey. I'm here. Let's go make something fun together!'"
To create in JOYWORLD is to treat your imagination like a sacred collaborator — to trust that what wants to come through, will.
